Adam Jiříček’s OHL Playoff Run Was a Statement

The numbers kept piling up throughout the OHL playoffs. While some nights were quieter than others, the hockey world trained its attention elsewhere. But when the Brantford Bulldogs’ postseason run finally came to an end, Adam Jiříček had put together one of the more impressive defensive performances in the entire OHL playoffs, and the St. Louis Blues have every reason to take notice.
Jiříček finished the postseason with seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 15 games, good for second among all OHL defensemen in playoff scoring. Only Kashawn Aitcheson of the Barrie Colts, who posted six goals and 23 points in 15 games, finished ahead of him.
Jiříček was consistently deployed on Brantford’s second-pairing and faced some of the most challenging matchups of the postseason. Across 388 minutes and 18 seconds of playoff ice time, Jiříček averaged over 25 minutes per game, which speaks volumes to how much the Bulldogs leaned on him even from the second pairing. He was consistent throughout the postseason, posting multi-point performances in five of his 15 games and going pointless in only four. His best individual game came on April 8 against the North Bay Battalion, when he put up four points (one goal and three assists) in an 8-1 Brantford victory. He followed that with another two-point performance two nights later, giving him six points across two games against North Bay to open the postseason.
The series against the Sudbury Wolves tested him differently. Brantford took the series but it wasn’t clean hockey, and Jiříček’s role expanded accordingly. In Game 2 of that series, he recorded five points (two goals and three assists) in a 6-5 win, one of the standout individual performances of the entire OHL postseason. He finished the Sudbury series with seven points in four games, including a plus-two on the series, before carrying that momentum into the Barrie round.
Against the Colts, the production slowed somewhat putting up four points in five games before the Bulldogs were eliminated. Jiříček logged 27:49 and 30:20 of ice time in consecutive games during that series, two of his heaviest individual game totals of his entire postseason.
By the time Brantford’s run ended, Jiříček had taken 98 shot attempts, put 53 of them on net, and blocked 21 more on the other end. He finished plus-eight on the season, drew three penalties, and recorded 21 hits across the 15 games.
