Stenberg and Lindstein Named to World Juniors Team Sweden
The St. Louis Blues add two prospects to Sweden’s 2025 World Juniors roster.
The St. Louis Blues will see two familiar faces return to international competition over the holiday season with prospects Theo Lindstein and Otto Stenberg both selected to Team Sweden for the 2025 IIHF World Juniors Tournament.
Both players are no stranger to representing their country in international tournaments having both played on the U-17, U-18 squads over the past few seasons, and the U-20 squad during the 2024 tournament.
Otto Stenberg
Drafted 25th overall by the Blues in 2023, Stenberg was a standout forward for Sweden in 2024’s tournament. He recorded nine points (four goals and five assists) across the tournament, including a hat trick against Germany in the preliminary round. Stenberg was instrumental in Sweden’s gold medal game, tying the score early against Team USA with a critical goal. His offensive creativity and ability to perform in high-pressure situations made him a key player for Sweden throughout the tournament.
After signing an entry level contract with the Blues this past offseason, he was loaned to the Malmo Redhawks of the SHL where he has three goals and six points in 23 games and seeing bottom-six minutes.
Theo Lindstein
Selected 29th overall by the Blues in 2023, Lindstein initially joined Sweden’s roster as a late addition but quickly emerged as a vital defensive leader. He led all defensemen in the tournament with eight points and maintained a plus-nine rating, showcasing his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively. Lindstein consistently played on Sweden’s top pairing and was integral to their disciplined defensive structure, which allowed only 2.08 goals per game during the tournament.
While Sweden fell to Team USA in the final (6-2), both players demonstrated NHL-level potential and played pivotal roles in Sweden’s silver-medal finish.
Lindstein signed an entry level contract with the Blues this past offseason. He is currently playing on loan to Brynäs IF in the SHL where he has produced two goals and four points, a plus-six rating and averaging around 15 minutes per game.
Stenberg and Lindstein join other Blues prospects Colin Ralph (Team USA invite), along with Adam Jecho, Ondrej Kos, Jakub Stancl for Team Czech, and Juraj Pekarcik for Team Slovakia. Dalibor Dvorsky (Slovakia) and Adam Jiricek (Czech) and both listed as potential players who could join their teams but are uncertain at this point.
The tournament will begin on Boxing Day (Dec. 26) and end during the first week of the new year. This year, the tournament returns to Ottawa, Canada, for the second time. Team USA’s Camp will be held Dec. 16-17 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
