Another week has passed for the St. Louis Blues prospects. This past week saw four prospects register at least three points.
Adam Jiricek
What a week for the Blues’ 2024 first round draft pick. Jiricek not only registered his first OHL assist this weekend but also scored his first two goals in the following game. Jiricek assisted on a beautiful fake shot-pass to Nick Lardis to break a scoreless game at the 14:23 minute mark of the 2nd period.
The next game, Jiricek and the Brantford Bulldogs pummeled fellow Blues prospect Quinton Burns and the Kingston Frontenacs 10-1. His two goals came back-to-back in the third period ultimately giving the Bulldogs a 9-1 lead. Jiricek finished the weekend with three points, a plus-five rating, and seven shots on goal.
Lukas Fischer
Three points in three games for Fischer over the past week including back-to-back games with a goal scored. Drafted 56th overall by the Blues in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Fischer joined Adam Jiricek and Colin Ralph as the third straight defenseman drafted in the 2024 draft. After scoring six goals and 34 points in 68 games through his first full OHL season, Fischer now has five goals and 12 points through only 17 games with Sarnia this season. He’s a minute-munching defender with size (6-foot-3, 185 lbs), at only 18 years old.
Juraj Pekarcik (QMJHL)
A four-point week from Pekarcik puts him at the top of the weekly offensive producers this week. In a wild 3-2 OT victory for the Montcon Wildcats, Pekarcik provided two secondary assists in two of the three goals. His first assist came on Caleb Desnoyers’ game-tying goal at 13:11 in the third period. The second assist came on the man-advantage with Gabe Smith scoring the winning goal.
The Blues’ 2023 3rd round Slovakian prospect forward currently sits third on the Wildcats team with 35 points in 29 games. He will go into a well-deserved break until Dec. 28th with a three-game point streak scoring two goals and six points.
Matvei Korotky (MHL)
Korotky is having himself a season. This past week, the young forward saw just over 55 minutes of ice time in three games in the MHL, Russia’s junior hockey league. After a brief two-game stint from Nov. 28-30th in Russia’s second-tier league, the VHL, where he produced one assist, Korotky has scored two goals and two assists in five games since. Three of his four points (two goals, one assist) came on Dec. 10th’s 9-0 victory over MHK Dynamo Moskva, and he has been held off the scoresheet in the two games since.
After scoring 20 goals and 38 points in 51 MHL games during the 2023-24 season, and is on a 32-goal, 58-point season over 51 MHL games this season.
2024-25 Top Performers
With another impressive week, Pekarcik has now tied Tomas Mrsic for the top Blues offensive point producer this season. The club’s top five point producers are as follows: Mrsic (35), Pekarcik (35), Korotky (32), Jakub Stancl (32), Jimmy Snuggerud (24).
