Top Blues Prospect Performers January 2025
Breaking down the hottest Blues prospects, their stats, and their impact across junior and pro leagues.
The St. Louis Blues prospect pipeline had some standout performances in January, with several young players making a significant impact at various levels. From dominant offensive surges to reliable goaltending, here's a look at the month's top performers.
Tomas Mrsic - Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
Mrsic was on fire in January, racking up eight goals and 21 points in just 13 games. He was held off the scoresheet only twice and recorded six multi-point games while firing 55 shots on goal.

The 18-year-old is now up to 28 goals and 66 points in 42 games, ranking 8th in WHL goals and 7th in points. After setting career highs last season (23 goals, 62 points in 63 games), he's already surpassed those numbers and continues establishing himself as a premier WHL forward.
Jimmy Snuggerud - University of Minnesota (NCAA)
Snuggerud led all Blues prospects in goals for the month, scoring 11 times and adding six assists for 17 points in nine games. He has been particularly hot lately, notching eight goals and 11 points in his last five games, extending his scoring streak to six games. Now the NCAA points leader with 41 in 29 games, Snuggerud is also third in goals, trailing only Ryan Leonard (Boston College) and Isaac Howard (Michigan State) by three. After a slow start (one goal in his first six games), the 20-year-old has taken over offensively, driving Minnesota's push for a championship.
Quinton Burns - Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)
Burns has stepped up in a big way, contributing four goals and 11 points in 10 games while continuing to excel defensively. The team captain leads Kingston in plus/minus (+34) and has emerged as their second-highest-scoring defenseman with eight goals and 34 points in 44 games. He's on pace to shatter his previous career-high of 35 points from last season, projecting to finish with 12 goals and 52 points in 67 games. However, his discipline remains an area for improvement, as he could surpass 100 penalty minutes for a second straight year.
Lukas Fischer - Sarnia Sting (OHL)
Fischer made headlines with his first career hat trick against Sudbury and finished January with five goals and 10 points in eight games. The 2024 second-round pick has been a key offensive contributor for Sarnia, who currently sit fourth in the Western Conference's West Division.
As team captain and a top-pairing defenseman, Fischer continues to develop into a reliable two-way presence.
Colten Ellis - Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL)
Ellis has been a rock in the net for Springfield, posting a .939 save percentage and stopping 261 of 278 shots in nine games. He remains one of the busiest goaltenders in the AHL, facing some of the highest shot volumes in the league. With inconsistent play in front of him, Ellis will need to continue his stellar performance as the Thunderbirds push for a playoff spot. Barring a dip in performance, he should remain their go-to starter down the stretch.
Each of these prospects took major strides in January, showcasing their potential as future contributors for the Blues. With the season heating up, their continued development will be key to their respective teams and the Blues' long-term plans.
